This Swine Life: Pig Named Six Seven Spared by Miami-Dade Mayor.

Although not quite at the identical stature as granting clemency to Thanksgiving turkeys, but the Miami-Dade County mayor experienced a ceremonial pardon event this week by ceremoniously saving the life of a pig named Six Seven.

Daniella Levine Cava performed the seasonal stunt at the Cuban-themed Latin Cafe 2000 in the heart of Miami’s Little Havana neighborhood.

“This pig is innocent. She is worthy of this pardon. Her criminal record is spotless,” stated the mayor in a speech with inescapable allusions to the sheer volume of executive clemencies issued since the commencement of a second term in office.

“If we disregard eating 6 or 7 apples per day,” the mayor added. “May this pig enjoy a long and happy life free from concern.”

The gathering, either celebrating or rejecting the local cultural practice of consuming swine during the holidays, was founded to replicate the yearly bird sparing at the White House.

The pig, donated by a local firefighter, was christened after the modern linguistic fad of young people yelling “6-7” – originating from a rap song lyric – often without clear purpose. The trend became so ubiquitous that a major dictionary recently declared “six-seven” its 2025 word of the year.

A New Life

The pardoned swine is now scheduled to spend its days at a farm sanctuary “distant from barbecues and spits”, according to the organizers' announcement.

“The pig pardon has become one of our favorite ways to begin the end-of-year celebrations,” said the cafe owner, in a particularly upbeat message.

“It represents the character of Miami: happy, multicultural, and rooted in traditions that unite the community. Every time, we are delighted to mark tradition and kindness in a way unique to Miami.”

Guests enjoyed a plant-based fare of spinach croquetas and strong coffee as they toasted the pig's pardon.
