Iran Claims Attack on US Base in the Kingdom of Bahrain, Amid Regional Military Operations.
Iranian forces say they have struck a US naval base in Bahrain, as Iran launched operations throughout the Middle East in retaliation for a "massive" and continuing offensive against it by the US and Israel.
Large columns of dark smoke were observed billowing from an vicinity close to the main base of the US Navy's Fifth Fleet in Bahrain's capital, Manama. The extent of any impact is uncertain and the United States has yet to issue a statement.
Regional Interceptions
Elsewhere across the region, the UAE, Qatar and the State of Kuwait - all home to American military installations - said they have shot down missiles in their airspace.
In the Qatari capital, the Qatari Ministry of Defence announced it had successfully engaged a number of projectiles seemingly aimed at the al-Udeid air base, the largest American base in the region.
Operation "Truthful Promise 4"
The Iranian Revolutionary Guard stated it was striking US bases and assets as part of operation "Truthful Promise 4", in retaliation for the strikes on the Islamic Republic launched by the United States and its ally Israel on Saturday.
That US-Israeli operation - executed at approximately 09:15 Iran time - has so far struck areas linked to the the regime, with President Trump urging the Iranian people to rise up against the regime.
Wider Impacts
In the State of Israel, sirens were heard across the country after the Israel Defense Forces reported it had identified an barrage of missiles from Iran.
The Ministry of Defence of the United Arab Emirates stated that the country has been targeted by a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".
"UAE air defence systems engaged the missiles with high efficiency and destroyed a several projectiles," the statement continued.
The statement noted missile fragments fell on a residential area in Abu Dhabi, resulting in some structural damage and the death of one civilian.
The US Air Force is stationed at the Al Dhafra base, south of the Emirati capital, along with the UAE Air Force.
